Run Forrest, run!

If you happen to be in Stockholm/Djurgården on September 3rd at, uhm, say around noon, you might see me and 30 000 other girls/women running like crazy. The reason for this insanity is a race called TjejMilen and the route is 10 000 m/10 km/1 mile long. Don’t ask me why I voluntarily would do this to myself, but the plan was that me and my sis would do this together. But due to an injury she decided to wait this one out and I had no excuse for quitting. So, alas, here I am. And I have actually taken this seriously, since I realized that 10 km isn’t exactly a stroll around the block. So this summer I began training a little bit, and here is the result of one of those practices. (and yes, walking and talking about the weather also is part of the training… )

If you also happen to be in Stockholm this Monday 29th, don’t forget to go to Kungsträdgården at the center of Stockholm, where me and a bunch of friends have put together an amazing mini-festival on the main stage. It starts 6 pm and a dozen of us girls will perform our own songs. Me and my band are up 6.40 pm and we’ll play for roughly 20 minutes. Welcome!

Hey everyone!

This summer has been one of the best ones ever for me! The weather was great, I got to hang out with friends and family a lot and also got to do lots of fun stuff! I basically spent the whole summer down in the southern parts of Sweden, Skane, and it was really nice to be back in my ”hoods”

There was also a couple of less fun events during this summer, will blog more about that later.

But for now, in this clip you’ll see me going for a ride…a little one at least

Gogol Bordello @ Gröna Lund, Stockholm

A couple of days ago my brother convinced me to come watch a band called Gogol Bordello at the amusement park called Gröna Lund at the center of Stockholm. He said he first saw them when they played as a warm up band and they even outshone the original artist. He said they were amazing live and boy, was he right!!! The place was packed and people were jumping and screaming like crazy.

I’ve never heard of the band before, but evidently they come from New York and have been touring around the world for some time now. It’s very much a gypsy-rock band and the leading man is so funny. He’s doing a combination between aerobic exercises and dancing on stage. Funny. I didn’t even notice, but there were a lot of people wearing purple in the audience, and with that last song I understood why

And also, don’t be alarmed if it feels like you’re getting a epileptic attack during one of the songs. It’s just the lightening effects gone bananas.

Sound check @ Dieselverkstaden, Stockholm

Before any gig or show you often do a sound check, which basically is what it sounds like: you check the sound. This is what we did before the gig at Dieselverkstaden last tuesday. All the instruments, the microphones and the speakers must have the correct sound level in order for the show to go well. It actually takes much more preparation than you might think and it’s also a good way to get a feel for the stage and where the audience is going to be. When we tried the first song the speaker in front of me, in which I can hear my own singing, was very low so it was hard for me to sing in pitch. In this clip though they raised the volume so I heard myself perfectly. You also see Kimmy, Patric (guitar) and Stefan (drums) trying out their instruments and the sound technicians making sure the levels are correct in the mixer and all the other equipment.

It was such a fantastic night and I’m already looking forward to the next performance on August 29 at the big stage in the center of Stockholm: Kungsträdgården. It’s gonna be a blast!!!

And also, I am heading down to my hometown Malmoe and our cottage in the middle of the forrest, so if I’m not vlogging as much you know why. Will of course put up some clips from our cottage and our celebration of the summer festivities!

Concert @ Dieselverkstaden June 14th

Yesterday was the concert at Dieselverkstaden and it was such a fantastic night!!!! In this clip you’ll see a preview of some highlights of the show with me and my fabulous band, consisting of Kimmy, Patric and Stefan. We all got there a couple of hours ahead to do a soundcheck and since I was the first act out we sound checked last. It went very well and I was really looking forward to performing!!!

After that we had roughly 30 minutes to make ourselves ready, put on some make-up, change clothes and prepare our notes. Family and friends started to arrive and me and the band gathered a short while before it was our time to go on stage. My friend Jessica introduced me and I wasn’t even nervous, just incredibly excited!!! I hit that first note and then it was just a pleasant flow through all of the songs. The audience was so amazing, I could see them smiling and applauding and that is the greatest gift of all: That the audience is having as much fun as I am.

We had prepared 9 songs, and they went by so fast. I am really happy we got the opportunity to rehearse at least twice before the show. One of the songs was very special to me, since it was a song I had written for my mom who was in the audience. It was a total surprise and seeing her reaction was really touching. After the last applause me and the band went outside and we were pretty content with the outcome. It’s a great feeling afterwards, especially when the gig goes well.

The other three artists after me were also amazing and I got really inspired by some of the music they played! I am really happy to be around so much talented and wonderful people, it’s worth all the work in the end.

Saturday Shopping in Stockholm C

Today was a very hot and sunny day here in Stockholm, Sweden, so we decided to go out on the town for some shopping! We took the tube to the center of Stockholm and worked our way down the main shopping road: Drottninggatan. We hit H&M (ofcouurse), Zara and other places, and along the way we saw various street artists performing. I kind of like the music filling the warm air, it’s like it’s summer for real.

We stopped and listened to one guy playing the accordion and who was homeless. I think this is very sad to see in such a rich country as Sweden, and I believe the government has an important part to play when it comes to helping the less fortunate. After that we listened to a cool guy singing like Joe Cocker, and later we saw an artist performing as a magician with round globes. Pretty cool.

Last but not least we went shoe shopping, felt I had to try these out!

Lucy TV broadcast Model Search Finale – Part 1

The finale for Model Search 1997 was broadcast on channel 5 (kanal 5) from Berns Salonger (Berns) in Stockholm. I was number 3 of 20 and in this clip you’ll see the first presentation that was made on the catwalk. In my presentation they basically say that I’ve just turned 15, that I debuted in the musical ”Sound of Music” at the age of 5 and that I love being in front of the camera (I think they called my mom and asked a few questions about me some time before the show). In the clip you’ll also see the jury with the famous Swedish designer Lars Wallin and other representatives from the modelling industry. You’ll also see the famous Swedish artist Christer Sandelin (also known from the band Freestyle) performing in the middle of the show.

I remember this night very well, everybody was so excited and there was so many people everywhere. We all got our makeup and hair done downstairs under the stage room, and I remember that the producers talked about what they were going to do about my hair. They decided on the big hairdo and we then went to work. It took us roughly 2,5 hours to get the hair done and I almost missed getting dressed for the entry. Or as you can say in Swedish ”Det var på håret”, (translation: I just made it)

The room was packed and my mom and sister was in the audience as well. My sister wore a fabulous green dress and I could see her from the stage. After the first part was done they choose 12 girls to continue to the next part…

National Day of Sweden

Yesterday was the National Day of Sweden and it is celebrated the 6th of June every year. The holiday begun in 1916 to honour the election of King Gustav Vasa in 1523, as that date was considered the foundation of the Modern Sweden. Today people celebrate by hoisting the Swedish Yellow and Blue flag and gather to party long into the night.

In 1993 a young girl also took part in the holiday festivities. She was 10 years old and was picked to sing the Swedish National Anthem at EM Bowling 1993 in Malmoe, Sweden. The wonderful vocal teacher Anette Ståhl helped her prepare for the night and they practiced the words in Old Swedish until she was fluent. The while sailor dress was picked by her lovely mom and when it was her turn to sing, she wasn’t nervous or anything. She just sang her heart out in front of a packed hall (Baltic Hall can take up to 4000 seats).

Dieselverkstaden – Stage for concert 14th June

We had such wonderful weather here in Stockholm yesterday so I decided to take a look at the stage where we’re gonna have our concert on the 14th of June – Dieselverkstaden in Stockholm. I’ve only been there once during a salsa band concert, but it’s a really nice place where they have concerts, café, workshops and much more. I even saw that the great band Foo Fighters have been there recently.

Even though the stage was occupied, we got permission to take a sneak peak and film backstage a little bit. I’m glad I went because now I know where we can put the instruments, how big the place is and so on.

Being backstage brought back many memories of when I participated in musicals such as ”Sound of Music” and ”Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. It’s a very special feeling just before you go on stage, it’s hard to describe unless you’ve experiences it.

Lucy Model Search 98 Presentation

In this clip you’ll see the presentation that was made for TV (Kanal 5). It was shot in Italy, Montecatini and it was such a fun day, I remember it well! Our group of girls, around 7 of us, went to Italy with the model and film crew and we had a blast. We travelled to Florence and other places, and it was really beautiful. I don’t really remember when it was my turn to shoot, but I think I was one of the first ones. We first tried out bathing suits and I got a yellow striped one (from Triumph I think), but it was too big so we had to tie it in the back. We then did the make-up session and after that started shooting. When the pictures by the pool were done the makeup artist did a fabulous eye makeup and styled my curly hair. After that I tried on a dress they had prepared for me, and it was a little too big, as was the shoes. Since I was only 14, and 1.70, I was small in every sense

The final dress was lovely, a black long armed shirt and a red ruffled skirt with a sort of ruffled scarf around the arms. I remember that we took shots from different angles around the city, walking up and down along cobblestones and standing on a wall dancing. The last scene was blowing the kiss and running away, and I remember that I almost dropped my shoes. But it was so much fun

To me this was such an adventure, the girls were so nice and everybody took care of me. I remember thinking that everybody was so tall and friendly but I guess that’s how you see the world when you’re a kid.

Anyways, next time I’ll put up the finale that was on Kanal 5. Really memorable night
